In 252, when the Prescient Empire stood at its peak, a young man from Alleste made a decision that would change the world: Pteracles set out across the divided ocean to Keryssia, capital of Septentrio.
Along the way—Coletan, Allmast, and countless cities—he saw poverty and misery in lands crushed by Mediotera’s tyranny.
In Keryssia, Pteracles met Baldus, a former merchant turned monk devoted to Ulton. Baldus spoke of continents’ suffering—and hinted at a mysterious island north of Terrapacem’s sacred taiga, said to contain a mineral of pure, phenomenal energy.
Baldus never finished the story. A crossbow bolt pierced his jugular, and he died in Pteracles’ arms.
